Phyllis Harris

Community Liaison, Masten District Councilmember

Over the last decade Phyllis Harris has had the honor of serving as the Community Liaison to the City of Buffalo’s Masten District Councilmember.

 Phyllis is a research professional and community activist at heart with varied and extensive experience, including years of multifaceted experience working in research program development, grant preparation and partnership creation at the college and university level, and active participation in a wide range of professional community activities and human services.  She holds a Master’s in Psychology from the University at Buffalo and an Associate of Science Degree in Computer Programming from the International Correspondence School.

 After over thirty-five years in higher education removing the rose-colored glasses from doctoral students, Phyllis took what she learned working with students and transformed her programs into larger community organizing and training methodologies now used across the City of Buffalo.  Her pioneering of the formal Community Liaison role has led her to be recognized numerous times over the years.

 In her spare time, Phyllis works with entrepreneurial groups focused on empower neighborhoods, as well as serving as a Democrat Committee Member for her district.
