Tristan Rader

Tristan Rader is a solar energy advocate, policy nerd, and public servant dedicated to making the world a more sustainable place, one rooftop at a time. He currently serves as the Ohio Program Director at Solar United Neighbors and is a member of Lakewood City Council.  

While in college, Tristan worked in outreach and advocacy at the Cleveland Foodbank. Later he would work on numerous political campaigns, climbed the ranks, and eventually managed field operations for gubernatorial and presidential candidates. In 2017, Tristan launched his own bid for elected office and won a seat on Lakewood City Council. In this role, he passed a 100% clean energy commitment, a $15 minimum wage for city workers, and initiated Lakewood’s first climate action plan.

At Solar United Neighbors, Tristan has helped thousands of homeowners on their journey toward solar adoption. He directs Ohio’s solar and renewable energy policy programs, working locally and statewide to secure a better, clean energy future for all Ohioans. 

Tristan holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Kent State University, a Master of Public Administration degree from Cleveland State University, and a Certificate in Renewable Energy Development from Yale Center for Business and the Environment.
