Shelley Cohen is an experienced CEO, Entrepreneur, and Project Developer currently serving as
Ameresco’s Director of Clean Technology Business Development where she is focused on
resilient energy and transportation systems that incorporate solar, storage, building efficiency,
microgrids, and other climate innovations and technologies. In her previous role with
Ameresco, Ms. Cohen successfully developed 15MWs of renewable energy and implemented
$50M in building efficiency projects. Ms. Cohen also served as Director of Solar Programs for
the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) where she developed the Solar for All program and
managed the program’s $12M annual budget which was used to incentivize the rapid
deployment of solar across DC to benefit low-income (LMI) residents. Ms. Cohen also served as
CEO of Alpha Solar Group, a woman-owned consultancy that provided business development
and permitting expertise for residential, community, and utility grade solar projects. Other
notable career highlights included service at EPA’s Landfill Methane Outreach Program, The
President’s Council on Sustainable Development, The White House Office on Environmental
Policy, and in the Office of Senator Joseph Lieberman (CT).
