Paul Hoekstra

Mobility BU Director U.S.A.

TNL U.S.A.

Paul is leading the TNL U.S.A. Mobility Business Unit, a Technolution subsidiary that is the leader of advanced traffic management solutions in Northern Europe. In our over 34 years of evolution, we have been at the forefront of mobility solutions. With signal controllers becoming connected, our European solutions are proving to deliver a significant uplift to urban mobility (public and private), increase safety, reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, and are highly scalable.

The latest iteration of our solution called MobiMaestro leverages micro-management of traffic flow. This transformative approach enables our clients to set policies dynamically, translate those into scenarios, and derive the rules to manage traffic flow in multi-modal and real-time. It has proven to provide traffic engineering departments with the processes, tools, and managerial aspects to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce Green House Gas emission/battery depletion, and near-miss reductions. In a recent Proof of Concept with the San Francisco Municipality Transportation Agency, we build a highly scalable solution leveraging NTCIP to communicate. In the test, we proved to improve Transit performance by reducing red-light delay by 72.5% without negatively impacting other modes, reduced CO2 emissions by 26.1%, and dramatically improved the ability to adhere to the transit schedule while reducing operational cost by over 6% (estimate).
