San Antonio River Authority

Julen Navarréte is a recent graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, having studied Geography and Environmental Sustainability and minoring in Civic Engagement. The interdisciplinary nature of geography reflects his interests and passions including history, art, biology, and political science. This interest led him to join the San Antonio River Authority as the Public Art Intern for the San Pedro Creek Culture Park in May 2022, allowing him to grow with the agency over time. Currently serving as Communications Coordinator I for the River Authority’s Public Affairs team, Julen assists in community outreach initiatives including education, social media, branding, events, and public meetings to drive the awareness of the River Authority’s goals of safe, clean, and enjoyable creeks and rivers. 
The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) was created by the Texas State Legislature in 1937, then reorganized in 1961 to plan, manage, and implement water-related programs and projects within the San Antonio River Basin. The River Authority has been planning, managing, and implementing water-related programs for more than 80 years.
