
Konner Petz serves as Head of Special Projects in the Mayor’s Office of Mobility Innovation for the City of Detroit. In this role, he leads advanced mobility deployments spanning uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), robotics, connected infrastructure, and physical AI applications within Detroit’s public right-of-way. He oversees Detroit’s Transportation Innovation Zone (TIZ), a unique ordinance designed to fast-track real-world testing of emerging mobility and smart city technologies.
With a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Konner brings over seven years of public sector experience across regional planning, transit operations, and municipal innovation, including roles with SEMCOG, SMART Bus, and the City of Detroit. His work focuses on aligning regulatory frameworks, community engagement, and public-private partnerships to responsibly deploy next-generation urban technologies.
