Robert Whitfield has served in a government IT infrastructure support role for the past 23 years. Currently, Robert serves as IT Support Manager for Wake County IT. Robert has been with Wake County for 20 years and prior to that, worked in the Office of the Secretary for the NC Department of Public Safety. He currently oversees all of Wake County public safety hardware infrastructure. Robert’s lean team of three supports all of Wake County EMS, and all but four fire departments within all 860 square miles Wake County! Robert’s expertise spans a background in security, RF / public safety radio communications, emergency management, and technical incident response management. Robert provides a practical side to his role at Wake County with his prior service as a volunteer Fire Fighter and advanced EMS for 20 years, retiring in 2012. Robert provides a wealth of inside knowledge to what is needed to support a public safety infrastructure.
