
Sergey Kobelev serves as the Energy Manager in the Office of Sustainability and Resilience for the city of Greensboro, where he has worked since 2017. His primary focus is on monitoring and forecasting energy efficiency and cost of the municipal operations, improving existing energy conservation policies, and developing new ones, often by incorporating emerging technologies. He worked for 16 years in consulting engineering, nine of them in investigation, diagnostic and forensic. Sergey was born in the former Soviet Union and lived and worked in a China, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, before relocating to the U.S. with his family over 25 years ago. He holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kiev Polytechnic Institute” and has six professional licenses in the USA.
