Shree Dorestant is a dedicated public servant and sustainability leader with nearly two decades of experience in government, serving communities across both the southern and northeastern United States. An Alabama native, Shree rejoined the City of Greensboro in June 2022 as its Chief Sustainability Officer, helping to establish and lead the city’s inaugural Office of Sustainability and Resilience.

Prior to this role, Shree spent over seven years with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection as a Stormwater Management Program Coordinator. There, she played a pivotal role in shaping inclusive, forward-thinking strategies for infrastructure and environmental planning, deepening her understanding of how diverse perspectives strengthen public policy and implementation.

Known for her high-energy, servant-leadership approach, Shree blends democratic leadership principles with a powerful storytelling style that makes sustainability accessible and compelling. She is deeply committed to community-first solutions, believing that meaningful climate action begins at the local level and must serve both current and future generations.

Shree holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Water Resources Management and Policy from Albany State University. She earned her Doctorate in Management with a focus on Environmental and Social Sustainability from Colorado Technical University.
