Jim Rice is Vice President Public Sector of North America at Vantiq, an enterprise software leader headquartered in Walnut Creek, California. At Vantiq, Jim leads go-to-market strategy and customer engagement across the region, helping organizations harness real-time AI and Generative AI to transform live data streams into actionable intelligence. His work spans advanced domains including Generative AI, IoT, sensor fusion, situational awareness, and 5G/edge technologies enabling the rapid deployment of intelligent, mission-critical systems.

Prior to Vantiq, Jim served as an Account Manager for Red Hat’s North America Public Sector, where he managed complex initiatives for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He also held senior roles at TVAR Solutions, supporting special projects across the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense, and at Atlantis Computing as Area Director. Notably, Jim led API, interoperability, and cross-domain integration efforts for the Department of Defense during his tenure as Vice President of Federal at Layer 7 Technologies, both before and after its acquisition by CA Technologies.

Jim’s career includes leadership positions overseeing federal business at GT Software, AmberPoint, and Vitria, as well as roles at Forte Software, ParcPlace Systems, and Centerline Software. Widely recognized for his ability to identify and scale disruptive technology companies, five of the eight startups he supported achieved successful IPOs or acquisitions delivering lasting value to customers and stakeholders alike.
