Mary-Ann Baldwin was first elected Mayor of Raleigh in 2019 and re-elected in 2022. Prior to that, she served on the Raleigh City Council as an at-large member from 2007 to 2017. Currently she serves as the Chair of the Safe, Healthy, & Vibrant Neighborhood Committee, Vice-Chair of the Economic Development & Innovation Committee, the City’s representative on the GoTriangle Board of Trustees and the City’s liaison to the Downtown Raleigh Alliance.

In addition to serving as Mayor, Mary-Ann serves as the VP of Advancement at First Tee – Triangle, a non-profit that uses the game of golf to teach kids leadership skills and character development. Previously, she served as executive director of the Holt Brothers Foundation, which supports children who have a parent with cancer, and was executive director of the Carolina Hurricanes Kids 'n Community Foundation. She is the co-founder of Innovate Raleigh, a regional catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship in the Triangle region.

Mary-Ann earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island; prior to that, she graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island. She started her career as a journalist and has more than 30 years of experience in marketing, communications, branding and business development. She has been activity involved in the non-profit sector, having served on numerous boards including the Wake Tech Foundation, Communities in School of Wake County, Artsplosure, and the American Lung Association. She also served as chair of the Business Friends Council of the North Carolina Museum of Art. She currently serves as a member of the William Peace University Board of Trustees and on the Wake Tech Board of Visitors.

In her spare time, Mary-Ann enjoys golf, skiing, hiking, and cooking for friends and family. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their seven grandchildren and two dogs, Jack Bauer and Charlie Brown.
