Arek Kempinski is a Technical Solutions Architect for the Town of Cary. He is a + 20-year veteran of public sector IT during which he played major roles in designing, commissioning and operating various municipal optical-fiber-networks, municipal and public-safety data centers, as well as, spearheaded efforts to combat the digital-divide especially for under-served communities. Currently he is focusing on application of novel technologies to improve quality of life, sustainability, and city operations.
Prior to working in public-sector, he worked for Incumbent Service Providers and commissioned some of the first transcontinental high-speed optical circuits that became the backbone for the Internet. Arek earned a dual engineering degree in Electrical and Microcomputer technologies with a concentration in Biomedical Instrumentation from Penn State University, as well as, a prestigious CGCIO certificate from UNC Institute-of-Government. In his spare time, he likes to bike and hike and is an avid gardener.
