Texas Military DepartmentDirector of Energy Programs for the Texas Military Department (TMD), including energy management for 700 buildings and 5.8 million square feet throughout Texas. During his 25 year active duty military career, he served in a variety of unique assignments including interagency operations, strategic planning and civil-military operations. He became involved in the energy field during a deployment to Iraq in 2005. As a civil affairs officer, he worked directly with coalition units and the Iraqi government to restore essential services including electricity (generation, transmission and distribution), to increase the capacity of the Iraqi government. He attended the NREL Energy Executives Program in 2010, in preparation for a deployment to Afghanistan. In 2010-11, he commanded a 75 person specialized unit in Afghanistan, focused on the development of distributed energy production to increase the capacity of the Afghan government. He is currently focused on increasing the sustainability, security and resiliency of the TMD, through innovative energy programs. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Wayland Baptist University, and a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
