Mike Grigsby currently serves as Business Development Manager for Cisco’s
Smart+Connected Communities practice. As an engagement leader he is focused on
identifying emergent opportunities in the Smart City and IoT areas delivering solutions in
the state and local government marketplace.
A veteran of both military and law enforcement and former CIO in the public and private
sectors, Mike’s broad range of knowledge and experience provides him with a unique
perspective and approach, allowing him to identify and implement solutions across a
wide spectrum of resources and disciplines.
Mike serves as a member of the Kansas City Tech Council Board of Directors, as well as
several advisory boards, including the State of Missouri Cybersecurity Task Force,
advisor to the University Innovation Fellows at William Jewell College, and past member
of the Kansas City Smart City Advisory Board. He is deeply committed to researching
and leveraging emergent technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous
vehicles, and machine learning in order to drive efficiency and enhance citizen
engagement. He is an advocate and champion for Smart City Solutions, Public Safety
Technology, Digital Inclusion, and Transportation Innovation.
Mike is a frequent keynote speaker on a variety of subjects including Smart City,
Information Technology, Leadership, Change Management, and Organizational
Development. Mike’s undergraduate studies are in engineering and information systems
and he holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University in
St. Louis. He and his family reside in Kansas City.
